We are pleased to announce that the creative team behind Illegal Food has created a partnership to bring you Mouth of the South, it's new concept opening this Spring at 186 Carroll Street in the Cabbagetown neighborhood of Atlanta.
This new restaurant concept is an evolution in Chef Steven Lingenfelter's mission to bring together locally sourced ingredients, in-house butchering and hand made components, and will utilize a gas fired brick pizza oven. The new menu will include items such as porchetta, meatball, and pastrami sandwiches and tacos and tortas featuring carnitas, chorizo and barbacoa, all house made.
The menu will also highlight vegetables from local farms including a weekly rotating vegetable plate, as well as salads and other seasonal specials.
Mouth of the South will open with lunch and dinner services, a full bar offering a selection of local beers on draft and in bottles and cans, and then plans on expand into brunch service in the near future.
It is also with great relief that we can share the conclusion of Steven and Laurie's litigation against the owners of the Virginia/Highland Illegal Food restaurant location, to whom Steven and Laurie licensed the name, concept and worked as employees. With this closure they are now able once again to operate under the Illegal Food name they created.
Steven and Laurie we continue to operate their Illegal Food pop-up around the city, including guest appearances in the Mouth of the South kitchen to bring you their classics like the Hank burger, Okonomiyaki fries, and Korean Fried chicken sandwiches, while in parallel overseeing the continued development of the Mouth of the South menu.
